In 1958 interracial couple Richard and Mildred Loving fell in love and got married. They grew up in a small town in Virginia that was more integrated than most places in the American South. But as they tried to build a life and family in the state, they were first jailed and then banished. They move to the inner city of Washington DC, but work to try and find a way back home to Virginia.
