Originally from Newcastle, Ed trained as an actor before finding himself spending more time wishing he was on the other side of the lights. After training as RTYDS Assistant Director at Birmingham Rep he worked in commercial theatre in London, moving onto be Associate Director at Northern Stage. Arriving in Scotland in the early 2000’s to do a Master’s degree in Film & Multimedia at Napier, he loved it so much that he’s still here. Previously Artistic Director at Cumbernauld Theatre where he won a Fringe First as well as leading the large capital development of the new Lanternhouse Theatre, Ed joined Macrobert as Artistic Director in 2024 and when not at the theatre, he can usually be found at the beach.
