Brian Cox stars as the iconic Prime Minister during the run up to D-Day and the liberation of France. In World War I Churchill had overseen the disastrous invasion of Gallipoli and was terrified the D-Day campaign would result in tens of thousands more deaths. Plagued with depression and constant criticism from his political opponents, it’s left to the unflinching support of his brilliant, unflappable wife Clementine to halt the Prime Minister’s physical and mental collapse and help lead him to greatness.
