A powerful and moving piece of dance theatre that re-enacts history and will have a deep impact.
£10.50 / £8.50 Conc / £5.50 Students
To mark the 30th anniversary of the closing of Polmaise Colliery in Stirling, award winning choreographer Gary Clarke proudly presents COAL, a riveting dance theatre show which takes a nostalgic look at the hard hitting realities of life at the coal face.
Strong, powerful and emotive it explores the darker underbelly of the mining industry, unearthing the true nature and body wrecking demands of a working class industry now almost forgotten.
Bringing together Clarke’s striking physical language performed by seven stunning dancers, a local community cast of women and a live brass band, COAL is an ever-relevant exploration of community, solidarity and survival.
We’re looking for four women aged 30+ with no professional performance experience to join Gary
and the company for our performances of this show. The roles involve some physical work, but individual needs and abilities will be taken into account. Interested? Contact: engagementcoal@gmail.com
