CENTRAL SCOTLAND DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL: LAUNCH EVENT

Scotland’s women lived through major social change in the twentieth century, challenging their roles in society and fighting for equality; at work and at home, classroom to croft, girlhood to motherhood. Discover their stories in Her Century, a timely collection of archive film curated by Scotland’s National Moving Image Archive. Featuring work from Scottish female filmmakers including Sarah Erulkar, Brigid ‘Budge’ Cooper and Jenny Gilbertson, these fascinating films follow women’s histories and voices through 100 years of filmmaking in Scotland.

After the screening, we'll be launching the newly-comissioned Her Century zine, featuring contributions from local Stirling writer Katie Skinner, archivist Mel Reeve and The Girlhood Gang – a group of feminist social scientists exploring the experiences, identities and perspectives of young women and girls. Everyone will then be welcome to join in the Festival’s annual ‘Potluck Social’ sharing lunch in the Upper Foyer.

Her Century is supported by Film Hub Scotland, part of BFI FAN and supported by The National Lottery and Screen Scotland.
