Judi Dench reprises the role of Queen Victoria, twenty years after first playing her in Mrs Brown, in this true story about a very unlikely friendship. When a young Indian clerk called Abdul travelled to England for the Golden Jubilee he’d expected to wait tables. Instead he found himself working as Victoria’s personal attendant and within a year, had become a powerful figure at court. Their controversial friendship nearly led to a revolt in the royal household.
