A PROMISE FROM MACROBERT ARTS CENTRE

We recognise that black voices in the arts are vital, and that many still face a struggle for their voices to be heard. Since the tragic death of George Floyd on 25 May and the outpouring of cries for change from across the world, we have been reviewing our core organisational values and how these inform the conversations and experiences we programme. It is clear there is more to do and we are committed to taking the time to listen, question and discuss what more can be done to play our part in making a global change. Our promise is to champion black artists, filmmakers and voices from all backgrounds. Only through a diversity of voices can we create an arts sector that is representative and open to all.

MAW GOOSE STRUTTING INTO 2021

After careful consideration and in light of the ongoing restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 lockdown, we have decided to delay this year’s panto, Maw Goose, until 2021. Each year more than 26,000 local supporters come together for all the joy of laughing, singing and groaning at the gags together – some even get a very special ‘Hello!’ from our Dame. Although the Scottish Government is slowly releasing lockdown measures they cannot yet be sure to provide the fantastic experience audiences expect from a Macrobert Panto, whilst staying socially distant. We want to make the best decision for everyone involved.

WHAT'S ON: IN THE DIGITAL WORLD

As we all play our part in this lockdown, we're sign-posting you to a selection of online arts experiences from some of our fantastic creative partners. There's lots going on in the digital world so this is just a snap-shot of what's on offer, but hopefully you'll be inspired to do a bit of exploring yourselves and share with us and your family and friends. With such a great selection of quality opportunities on offer, together we can be entertained, inspired, educated and so much more.

WATCH ONLINE AND SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL CINEMA

We may have closed our doors on 20 March to do our bit to 'Stay Safe, Stay Home', but we're keeping our ear to the ground for opportunities for you to keep connected and enjoy a variety of experiences from your own home. We're therefore delighted to share, that thanks to our friends at Modern Films, you can still enjoy one of films we had planned for our April cinema programme, The Perfect Candidate.

The health and safety of our audiences, artists, staff and all those who take part in our activities continues to be our number one priority, in what is an unprecedented and uncertain situation for us all.
