Edwardian Costume for Performance

5th February 2019

Student's from Edinburgh College's HND Costume for Stage & Screen Course have an exhibition of their Edwardian Costume for Performance pieces at Macrobert Arts Centre until Wed 27 Feb. Entry to the exhibition is free and you can visit during our opening hours. There may be times that the exhibition space will be closed to the public for private events, please do call in advance if you are making a special visit to avoid disappointment.

In interpreting designs by Anya Glinski, the students worked at cutting patterns, performing bespoke fittings of the costumes on models and constructing the costumes using industry related methods and techniques.

They worked on the costumes from the beginning of semester 2 until the end of May replicating the exquisite tailoring and linear silhouettes of the Edwardian period.

They were a little daunted during the initial stages of the project but have worked step by step to create the garments and millinery of a lavish bygone era.

We hope you enjoy seeing this work in exhibition and value the technical ability, innovation and commitment to quality which is on display and which we believe will go some way to helping our students establish careers in the industry.
