20th May 2019

We're delighted to announce that The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts, will be screened live on the big screen at the Arts Centre from this summer. July and August will see encore screenings of Romeo et Juliette (Sat 20 Jul, 5.55pm), Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Sat 3 Aug, 5.55pm), Aida (Sat 17 Aug, 5.55pm) and La Boheme (31 Aug, 5.55pm), prior to the launch of The Met: Live in HD’s 14th season on Sat 12 Oct with Puccini’s Turandot.

This is a new strand to the existing programme of event cinema at Macrobert that includes screenings from National Theatre Live, Royal Opera House Live, Royal Shakespeare Company Live and a selection of other fantastic big screen experiences like André Rieu’s Shall we Dance? (Sat 27 & Sat 28 Jul).

Grahame Reid, Macrobert’s Film Programmer commented:
‘We’re delighted to add The Metropolitan Opera to our programme of live and encore event screenings, adding to the already diverse selection on offer. Our event cinema programme is really popular and we’re hoping The Met Live will encourage even more people to choose Macrobert Arts Centre for their cinema experiences.’
