Marking the latest step in the University redevelopment project

Performers from the Macrobert Arts Centre helped mark the latest step in the £21.7 million redevelopment of the University of Stirling campus. The Campus Central project, which includes an extensive refurbishment of the University’s existing atrium and a three-storey extension, will join the heart of the University with the Macrobert Arts Centre, as well as adding more than 50% of extra learning, social and study space for staff and students.

Robert the Bruce + Q&A with Angus Macfadyen and Robert Gray

When Robert The Bruce, the sequel to Braveheart, screens at Macrobert Arts Centre on Fri 28 Jun audiences are in for a treat as Angus Macfadyen (Robert the Bruce himself) will be on hand for a Q&A in person after the film. He’ll be joined by the film’s director Richard Gray and with tickets from only £4.50 this is a not-to-be missed night out.

BSL Director Trainee Petre Dobre

Last year, we appointed Scotland’s first ever BSL Director Trainee, Petre Dobre, and we are delighted to introduce his sharing pieces Heartsore and 9/11 on Fri 21 Jun at 7pm. Petre has also created a video about his journey to becoming BSL Director Trainee at Macrobert Arts Centre and what he has learnt throughout the past year.

MET OPERA SCREENINGS AT MACROBERT

We're delighted to announce that The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts, will be screened live on the big screen at the Arts Centre from this summer. July and August will see encore screenings of Romeo et JulietteI (20 Jul, 5.55pm), Il Barbiere di Siviglia (3 Aug, 5.55pm), Aida (17 Aug, 5.55pm) and La Boheme (31 Aug, 5.55pm), prior to the launch of The Met: Live in HD’s 14th season on Sat 12 Oct with Puccini’s Turandot.

Stirling Women's Aid takeover our film programme in the Playhouse next weekend (Fri 3 to Sun 5 May). They've selected four films to show throughout the weekend, including The Company of Wolves (Fri 3 May), Me Without You (Sat 4 May), Maeve (Sat 4 May) and a double bill of Dream Girls & Shinjuku Boys (Sun 6 May).

Vote in Tesco Bags of Help

Macrobert Arts Centre is bidding to bag a cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative. Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awarded to local community projects. Vote in Tesco stores in Stirling and Bridge of Allan for our Christmas Appeal 2019. Every year, we raise funds for their Christmas Appeal, to allocate free Pantomime tickets for local, disadvantaged children, families and older members of the community to ensure everyone can experience the magic of Christmas. Macrobert Arts Centre works with over 30 local charities to make sure the tickets reach those most in need including Stirling Young Carers, Action for Children, Home Start, Stirling Women’s Aid and Strathcarron Hospice.

Epic Art Challenge

If you're aged between 5 and 18 and would like to have your artwork displayed in our Epic Art Exhibition 2019, then now's the time to get drawing or painting! This year's theme is wildlife and the environment. All you need to do is send us a drawing or picture (no bigger than A3) of a wild animal that is affected by an environmental impact e.g. sea turtles affected by plastics or orang-utans losing their habitat to deforestation. The Challenge is divided into three age groups - P1 to P3, P4 to P7 and S1+ - and we'll choose our favourite pictures to be displayed in the Arthouse at Macrobert Arts Centre. All the artists who work is chosen will be invited to a prize-giving celebration at 12noon on Sun 28 Jul.

Be part of our Panto Young Cast 2019!

We are delighted to welcome you to audition for Rapunzel: A Hair Braiding Adventure Young Cast! Following the success of last year’s Sleepin' Cutie, Macrobert Arts Centre is holding auditions on Sun 12 of May 2019 for young people to join the Young Cast for this year’s panto – Rapunzel: A Hair Braiding Adventure.
